The Muckenthaler’s 5th grade STEAM program, entitled ‘American Revolution and the Printing Press’ links 5th grade history content standards and visual art standards through project-based learning, thereby, deepening student understanding of two content areas simultaneously.

Students learn the historical process of print making to create handbills during the Revolution and have the opportunity to use tools, such as the printing press and ink quill, from this time period. Our students in Magnolia School District were very engaged in hands-on project based learning which encouraged students to create images and slogans indicative of the spirit of the American Revolution.”
